This is a 1/72 scale military scale diecast model from Hobbymaster of the F-15E “4th FW 75th Anniversary” , Seymour Johnson AFB. Comes boxed with stand and gear.

In 1967 the U.S. became aware of the Soviet MiG-25 Foxbat. This made it necessary to develop a new aircraft to counter the MiG-25. The USAF rejected the USN F-14 Tomcat and issued its own requirements. The solution came in the form of the McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing) F-15 Eagle. The F-15A made its inaugural flight in July 1972 and in January 1976 the first Eagle entered service. The “E” entered service in 1989. The F-15 was the first dedicated USAF air superiority fighter since the F-86 Sabre.Established in 1966 the VFA-37 "Ragin Bulls" under the designation VF-37 was initially outfitted with A-7 Corsair IIs. In November 1990, VF-37 transitioned to VFA-37 upon receiving the new McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. The F/A-18C Hornet 165187 C/N 1321/C412 is a member of VFA-37 "Ragin Bulls" that was transferred from the USS Harry Truman to the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN77). VFA-37 is scheduled to embark on its inaugural deployment with the USS George H.W. Bush on January 21, 2017, for a six-month cruise to the Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf.

McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet
Developed as a successor to the A-4 Skyhawk and the A-7 Corsair II, and to complement the F-14 Tomcat, the F/A-18 had its first flight on November 18, 1978. It is perhaps most recognized as the aircraft utilized by the US Navy's Blue Angels. This carrier-capable, supersonic, all-weather fighter serves multiple roles, including fighter escort, fleet air defense, and close air support. The F/A-18 is an adaptable aircraft: it can operate from both carriers and land bases, and a single switch allows it to transition from fighter to strike mode. During Operation Desert Storm, the F/A-18 demonstrated that a single aircraft could fulfill the roles of both fighter and bomber in one mission.

Key features of Hobby Master's "1:72 Air Power Series" diecast planes include:

  • Sturdy diecast metal bodies with some plastic parts.
  • Authentic panel lines, antennas, access panels, and detailed surface features.
  • Durable pad-printed markings and labels that won't fade or peel.
  • A display stand to showcase the aircraft in a flight position.
  • Meticulously detailed undersides with hidden screw heads.
