Navigation is one area of pilot training where traditional skills (dead reckoning, map reading) now need to be blended with the latest technology (satellite navigation, moving map displays). As a result, the pilot’s knowledge needs to go beyond the ‘traditional’ and mostly theoretical navigation methods often taught in out‐of‐date courses.

This shortcoming was addressed in the 2015 Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL) courses, produced by a team of experienced flying instructors and examiners put together by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

This syllabus brings PPL and LAPL training in‐line with the modern training environment. In particular, the new training courses are focused on providing up‐to‐date and practical aeronautical knowledge, rather than requiring the pilot to rote learn largely academic and irrelevant material with little application to ‘real world’ flying.

Aeronautical Knowledge, Navigation is part of a new series of aviation training manuals, designed from the beginning to take full advantage of this new methodology in aviation training. It provides a deeper understanding of aviation navigation and approaches the subject of navigation on a ‘step‐by‐step’ basis, from a starting point assuming no prior knowledge of the subject, through to a comprehensive coverage of practical navigation for Visual Flight Rules (VFR) flight. In particular, it addresses modern navigation techniques, such as the use of GNSS satellite navigation and Moving Map Displays through‐out the course, blending these important pilot aids with the traditional skills of dead reckoning and map reading.

The author is a Flight Instructor with over 40 years instructing experience, who is the established author of over 25 aviation training manuals. He was closely involved in the creation of the new PPL and LAPL training syllabi and this series is now delivering the real word aeronautical knowledge that today’s pilots need – not just to pass the relevant exams,but also to operate safely and proficiently in the modern aviation environment.

Royal Mail is an now a tracked service. We may at our discretion upgrade your delivery to a courier at our cost.
Special Delivery / Parcelforce / DPD : These are guaranteed services with included tracking numbers.

EXPORT
INTERNATIONAL TRACKED : This is a normal postal service. It is tracked but is not guaranteed to arrive on a set time scale. It is the most cost effective service but is a lot slower than couriers. For fast delivery we reccommend our other services that are offered at checkout.

DPD EUROPE/PARCELFORCE EUROPE: These are courier tracked services but can still take more than a week.

FED-EX: This is a guaranteed service with included tracking number. It is also much quicker than airmail.

Loss or damage:

If goods are found to be faulty on deliver after inspection they may be returned for a replacement. If no replacement is available then monies will be refunded in full. Please make sure you inform us within 7 days of receipt of any faults when you inspect the goods

Non Delivery

Claims for missing items or the non delivery of orders must be made within 28 days of the despatch date. All trackable orders will have a P.O.D. signature showing the delivery date and who signed for it.
