V:ONE pilot shirts - 100% cotton, cut for the cockpit

The V:ONE range is the most premium option in our pilot shirt selection, made from 100% cotton for all-day comfort in a cockpit environment. Available in two fits:

V:ONE Slim Fit - a contemporary, tailored cut designed for pilots who prefer a closer-fitting silhouette without restricting arm movement. Available in short sleeve (£35) and long sleeve (£35) in collar sizes 15"–19".

V:ONE XR - the XR (Extra Relaxed) fit is cut with additional room through the chest and shoulders, making it the preferred choice for pilots who are broader in build or who find standard slim-fit shirts restrictive during flight. Available in short sleeve (£35) and long sleeve (£35) in collar sizes 15"–19".

Both V:ONE styles are white, finished with two breast pockets (with pen slot), a traditional turn-down collar, and long-lasting colour retention through repeated commercial washing.

Flightstore pilot shirts - poly-cotton, everyday reliability

Our own-brand Flightstore pilot shirts are made from a durable poly-cotton blend, offering easier care and wrinkle resistance compared to pure cotton - practical for pilots who need to look sharp on a quick turnaround. Available in short sleeve (£20) and long sleeve (£20) in collar sizes 15"–19". These are the most accessible entry point for pilots setting up a working uniform wardrobe.

What to look for in a pilot shirt

Choosing the right pilot shirt comes down to three factors: fabric, fit, and function.

Fabric - Cotton pilot shirts (V:ONE) breathe better in the cockpit and are preferred by many commercial pilots for long-haul operations. Poly-cotton shirts (Flightstore branded) are more wrinkle-resistant and typically easier to launder, making them a practical choice for shorter sectors or ground duties.

Fit - Slim fit shirts look smarter on a trim frame and photograph well for crew photos, but may feel restrictive during extended overhead-panel work or if you're broad-shouldered. The V:ONE XR fit is specifically designed for pilot ergonomics: extra room through the chest and shoulder without excess fabric at the waist.

Function - All pilot shirts in our range include two chest pockets with pen slot, a traditional turn-down collar suitable for tie or no-tie wear, and white colouring that conforms to most airline uniform codes. None of the shirts in our range include epaulette slides - epaulettes are worn over the shoulder and do not require a dedicated shirt fitting for most airlines.

Frequently asked questions about pilot shirts

What is a pilot shirt?
A pilot shirt is a professional uniform shirt worn by commercial airline pilots and general aviation pilots. Pilot shirts are typically white, feature two breast pockets with a pen slot, and a turn-down collar. The styling is based on military flying dress shirts and is designed to be worn with epaulettes on the shoulders and, traditionally, a tie.

What is the difference between slim fit and XR fit pilot shirts?
Slim fit pilot shirts are cut closer to the body for a smart, tailored look - ideal for pilots with a lean or average build who want a contemporary uniform silhouette. XR fit (Extra Relaxed) shirts are cut with additional room through the chest and shoulders, making them more comfortable for longer flights, boarder builds, or extensive overhead-panel work. Both fits are available in the V:ONE range at Flightstore.

Do pilot shirts come with epaulettes?
No - pilot shirts do not include epaulettes. Epaulettes are separate accessories that slide onto shoulder boards or epaulette straps sewn onto the shirt. Most airline-issue shirts include epaulette straps; our V:ONE and Flightstore shirts can be worn with separate epaulettes placed over the shoulder seam in the conventional way. You can browse aviation accessories including epaulettes in our pilot supplies section.

What colours are pilot shirts available in?
All pilot shirts in the Flightstore range are white, which is the standard colour prescribed by most airline uniform codes. Civil aviation authority guidance and individual airline operations manuals typically require white or off-white as the base colour for flight crew shirts.

What collar size do I need for a pilot shirt?
Pilot shirts are sized by collar measurement in inches. Our range covers collar sizes from 15 inches to 19 inches. To find your size, measure around the base of your neck where the collar sits, add half an inch for comfort, and round to the nearest half-inch. If you are between sizes, size up - a collar that is too tight becomes uncomfortable during long sectors.

Can I get ladies pilot shirts?
At present our pilot shirt range is men's cut. If you are looking for ladies pilot shirts or women's aviation workwear, please contact us at 01924 480777 and our team will advise on current availability or direct you to suitable alternatives.
