Boeing 737 MAX's Maiden Flight is a roaring success!

Boeing 737 MAX's Maiden Flight is a roaring success!
Two years after the official Boeing YouTube channel launched their introductory video for the 5th-generation 737 MAX, we’ve at last witnessed the maiden journey of this eagerly-awaited aircraft, which took off as  scheduled, on the 29th January.

What’s New?

Boeing’s official company line revolves around promoting the 737 MAX’s efficiency, and that’s a buzzword you’ll hear whenever they talk about the latest entry to the 737 line. It’s definitely not just a load of hot air, though, the Boeing 737 MAX is expected to walk the walk, figuratively speaking, once it becomes a staple of air travel. A tentative date of 2017 has been set as to when we can expect to see the 737 MAX in commercial operation, carrying jetsetters around the globe. Utilising state of the art LEAP-1B engines, designed by acclaimed manufacturer, CFM International, fuel efficiency is estimated to be in the region of 14% less fuel being burned compared with the previous generation’s 737 - which amounts to a staggering amount of energy being saved. The 737 MAX also boasts a significant increase in passenger capacity, moving up from a previous capacity of 150, to 162. If you think about the incredible numbers of flights this aircraft will take over the next generation, that number quickly multiplies into an enormous figure, benefitting everybody involved. The 737 is a favourite of many aviation enthusiasts, largely for its arguably unmatched reliability, and the Boeing 737 MAX is set to improve on this facet even more - which is great news for those of us in the departure lounge! Already wildly popular, breaking records for Boeing back-orders (as of 2015, the company had secured over 3000 firm orders, an overwhelming initial success by even their lofty standards) and receiving worldwide praise and acclaim for the ingenuity and progress of Boeing’s latest addition to their 737 family.
