Private Pilot Licence Series Volume 5 - Human Factors and Flight Safety completes the PPL Course series by taking a fresh approach to this much misunderstood and misquoted subject. As always the emphasis will be on a fresh and practical, yet thorough, approach to the subject, with accurate information and abundant illustration.

Human Factors covers the JAR PPL syllabus with an emphasis on up-to-date and relevant material, written for pilots, not doctors. The second part of the book, Flight Safety, breaks new ground in examining flight safety and airmanship issues from the PPL perspective: Why do pilots press on into deteriorating weather? What makes a pilot keep on flying until their aircraft runs out of fuel? Why are low-level aerobatics so dangerous? If you've ever read an accident report and thought, "That will never happen to me," you will find PPL5 essential reading. Pilots of every experience level will find food for thought in PPL5 Human Factors and Flight Safety and it looks set to repeat the success of the preceding volumes in the series.

Overview of the full course

The PPL Course Series In its original edition, first published in 1994, the PPL course series quickly became standard issue at the majority of flying schools and clubs training for CAA courses. Their accuracy, clarity and user-friendly approach was widely acclaimed and their fresh and modern approach to their subject matter made them a favourite amongst student pilots and instructors alike.

Now being published in their second edition, specifically re-written to reflect the JAR syllabus, the PPL Course Series continues to be the most up-to-date series available and is now the only set of publications that completely and accurately cover the JAA PPL course syllabus. Furthermore, AFE follow a publishing policy of restricting the print run of each book to the minimum commercially viable, meaning that amendments and updates can be incorporated into reprints as quickly as possible, rather than waiting up to a couple of years to publish new information. Moreover, this is the only series written by a JAR Flight Instructor (FI), which is why more and more FTOs are changing over to the PPL Courses series. .

Comment: FLYER Magazine

"Jeremy Pratt's series of 'Private Pilot's Licence Course' books have seen a multitude of flyers through their PPL ground exams and the latest in the series - Human Factors and Flight Safety - maintains the tradition of well structured and illustrated tuition. Written in a non-techy, easy to consume style, the book uses actual aviation scenarios to explain it points, to allow a direct relevance to the subject matter."
