Hong Kong's new long haul carrier becomes the 189th airline in the World Air Routes series. In the cockpit of the B747-400 you will fly the airline's maiden route from Hong Kong to London and back.
After a company presentation by the CEO, Flight Ops and Ground Ops Managers you'll descend from the mountain to CLK Airport in the cable car for some amazing views of the Airport. We then meet the crew who brief us on the flight are ready for takeoff in the cockpit of the 747-400.
Both Captains give a very extensive presentation of the aircraft, the route, the operation and many other details pertaining to the airline and last, but certainly not least, we take to the sky for the first ever air to air footage of a 747 over the English coast.
The program begins with welcome messages from the director of ground ops, director of flight ops and the CEO, plus a quick tour at the operations center. Thereafter, viewers experience the sights and sounds of Hong Kong, enroute to the airport.
Capt. Cox, the pilot flying in this leg, conducts a crew briefing to his fellow pilots and cabin crew later on. Into the cockpit, viewers experience the extensive pre-flight preparation and departure briefing. A detailed cockpit presentation done by Capt. Millerin (the pilot monitoring), further continues during the cruise. Pilots maintain situational awareness by checking alternate airports (their range arcs clearly visble in the ND) and escape routes. On approach to Gatwick, numerous aircraft are seen arriving to the same airport with ATC busy providing radar vectors and traffic separation.
With Capt. Millerin as the pilot flying this leg, the crew experience some bad weather during climbout over Gatwick. Over Moscow, a course deviation for weather is performed to have smoother flight. As another Oasis flight is enroute to LGW, the passing aircrafts turns on it's landing light to say 'hello' to each other. Before descent, the pilot flying peforms the approach briefing with three possible arrival routes (depending on ATC/air traffic) then for transition for ILS runway 07L approach. The highlight on this segment is the windhsear/turbulence encountered on approach to Hong Kong, clearly seen in the PFD.
