Product Summary

Filmed from the spectator terraces on several occasions from 1991 to 1996, this DVD captures the final days of Dan Air, as well as its takeover in 1992 by British Airways. 707s from three cargo operators and an equal number of BAC 1-11s, plus 727s and 737-200s on short-haul services, provide a reminder of an era before the dominance of low cost carriers, with their rows of identical A320s or 737NGs

Over twenty years ago, Avion released their first two VHS videos; Long-Haul at London and Eurolink. Over the last two decades, advances in video technology have made it possible to sharpen, stabilise and otherwise improve those images in ways unthought of back then.

We have already used the Heathrow material to create our Airports in the 90s - Heathrow DVD. Now, some of the Gatwick footage from those VHS videos has been included in this DVD, but most of the material it contains has never been released before.

In the early nineties, Gatwick still had the variety and interest that resulted from its long-haul routes worldwide, using of course many of the first generation of wide-bodied airliners.

So, there is only one 747-400 among plenty of earlier versions. DC10s and Tristars also feature strongly.
