Guide to Becoming a Professional Pilot
2003/4 All new Edition, Previously called The Guide to getting a commercial pilots licence

Newly published and expanded is this 2003/4 Pilot's Guide from Clive Hughes.
This superb guide explains the intricacies of obtaining an Airline Transport Pilot Licence by the many routes available from your first PPL onwards. It has resisted the temptation to pad it out with a lot of irrelevant verbiage just to make it thicker and appear better value; Clive Hughes has concentrated on the facts, figures and complexities in as efficient way as possible and it is constantly updated to ensure that you have the latest information. Since the first publication in 1992 there have been 26 updated revisions produced and a total of over 6,500 copies have been sold in the UK and worldwide. The guide is continually updated and the author guarantees it will save anybody seeking to be an airline pilot at least several hundred pounds and more likely, several thousands.

Three years ago the aviation press reviewed Clive Hughes' first edition of Guide to Getting a Commercial Pilot Licence. "It was a good attempt at guiding potential pilots through what can be a minefield of legislation and experience requirements for obtaining private through to commercial licences. Now more professionally packaged, cut down in size from the original A4 to a conventional A5 paperback and running to some 170 pages, the guide covers more ground than ever and for anyone considering commercial flying as a career, it is an excellent read".

A word from the author

have been flying in Europe and the US since 1974 and currently am a pilot for Channel Express. I am also a Flying Instructor, but the expertise to write this book came not from just my own training experiences but mostly from several years working as the Sales & Marketing manager for flying schools which conducted training for commercial licences and ratings. During this time I was frequently asked questions by many pilots, from beginners to 20,00 hour 747 Captains holding foreign licences, the answers to which I had to research. This book is the result of that research and its regular updates are the natural consequence of my continued interest in flight training.
