The Garmin
196 Auto Kit bundles the vital automotive accessories you'll want on the road,
enhancing the 196's built-in land routing capabilities with detailed city data,
over five million points of interest and turn-by-turn street mapping.
Mapsource provides geographic data on a CD-ROM, which augments the
information already on your Garmin GPS basemap. You can also quickly select
maps and save them for use on your Garmin GPS. With MapSource you can view
existing waypoints, routes and tracks on the graphic map or quickly create new
waypoints or routes with the click of the mouse.

USB 64 MB Memory Card
and Reader: Instead of directly connecting the 196 to your PC, you can use
your PC to select the rural and metro areas you'll be travelling in and load
the data for those areas into the memory card for the 196. Then just put the
memory card into your GPS and you're off and driving.
Cradle/Mount-Point
System: Lets you rotate the cradle to a suitable angle (so your co-pilot
can adjust it and return it to your viewing angle while on-the-go). The easy
release and locking system secure it in position. These features are included
in both the hard mount and the soft mount.
Soft Mount:
Weighted at four points and features a skid-resistant bottom surface. Designed
to be easily moved from vehicle-to-vehicle with no permanent installation.
Sharp turns or sudden acceleration/deceleration shouldn't be a problem with
this unit, but we don't recommend using it on excessively bumpy roads.
Hard Mount:
Secured to your dash by strong, double-sided adhesive disks. This is a more
permanent installation than the soft mount. It is also less bulky leaving a
cleaner, less cluttered dash. Since it is firmly secured to the vehicle, this
is the recommended mounting method for rougher roads.
Extra Cradle: You
already have one that came with your 196. This extra cradle lets you leave one
in your aircraft--no need to carry the largest of your accessories around with
your 196. Users Manual. (PDF)
