Aerobatic Champion Mike Goulian and award-winning aviation writer Geza Szurovy explain everything the prospective acrobatic pilot needs to know about aerobatics. A variety of maneuvers-loops, slow rolls, Cuban eights, inverted flight, and many more-are discussed and illustrated with diagrams and in-flight photos. And, the theory and practice of aerobatics are explained. Not only does the aerobatic student learn how to conduct the maneuver, but learns also what is happening to the airplane and why it is happening. A thorough primer for the serious student of aerobatics, Basic Aerobatics also provides information about aircraft control that every pilot will find beneficial.
Great textbook-style introduction to aerobatic flight. Gives thorough step-by-step descriptions (and matching pictures) for each maneuver. Great for aspiring aerobats, RC flyers, or pilots interested in unusual attitude recovery techniques or interested in getting involved in competition aerobatics.

"The new classics:
I first met Michael Goulian when he was 18 years old. He showed up with his parents at the International Aerobatic (IAC) Championships at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in about 1988, and the first thing I did was literally hand him the keys to my airplane, an Extra 230. It's true. I was happy when he brought it back in one piece, of course, but never doubted the kid's maturity, skill and drive. Since then we've remained close friends and Michael has become a "U.S. National Aerobatic Champion and is a three-time member of the U.S. Aerobatic Team. Michael was born into an aviation family, and along with his mother, Rita, his late father Myron, his brother Matthew, runs the family business "Executive Flyers" - one of the Northeast's largest and most respected flight training schools. Michael flies a dynamite airshow in his CAP 232, and oh yeah, he writes books too. I'd still hand him to keys to any airplane I had and to me, he's still a great kid.
About the authors
"Mike Goulian and Geza Szurovy are the ideal team to write this book. Mike is one of America's premier unlimited aerobatic competition and airshow pilots; Geza is an award winning aviation writer and recreational aerobatic pilot. Both learned to fly before they knew how to drive a car."
