FSMap is an application that brings paper charts into the digital age. It consists of two parts that can be used separate or together; the main FSMap program and the FSMap gauge that will be part of your aircraft panel.
Feature overview:
Fully licensed VFR charts for Austria, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland included
Extensive map filtering for a type for maps (General, IFR, VFR, Airport) and then filter by IFR and VFR maps (General and Airport types are always displayed).
Loads default FS flight plans and displays them on top of the charts
Every chart you got in bitmap format can be imported, from large scale enroute charts to the most detailed taxi charts (for example all USA sectionals and airport charts found on Avsim and other internet websites)
Can import maps from FSMovingMap
Options to export regions to share with others
Easy to add and calibrate charts so they can be used.
The gauge can be inserted into any panel using very easy interface (no editing of panel files needed)
The FSMap application connects to FSX using SimConnect and to FS2002/FS2004 using an unregistered version of the FSUIPC
The FSMap application can be run on a separate computer using SimConnect for FSX (FREEWARE) or WideFS for FS2004 and FS2002 (registered version of the FSUIPC and WideFS (BOTH PAYWARE) required)
Highly professional development (like FS Flight Keeper)
Over 30,000 real-world IFR plates, including approach plates, SIDs/STARs, Airport Diagrams, and more. Approach types include ILS, VOR, VOR/DME, NDB, LLZ, SDF, GPS, TACAN, Helicopter, Visual, and more.
Superb coverage: includes virtually every IFR plate for the USA and plates for hundreds of countries worldwide.
Complete, Integrated WORLDWIDE Airport/Facilities directory. Features useful information on the vast majority of the world's airports, including many tens of thousands without instrument approaches. Also included as part of this is a fairly comprehensive worldwide directory of NAVAIDs (Navigational Aids) such as VORs and NDBs.
For the USA, a complete list of preferred routing tables is included, so you can plan your virtual flights just like the pros do!
This is a massive collection of data, totaling over 6gb - which is actually too much for a 'standard' DVD. In fact, we've had to go to a special larger-capacity DVD format to fit it all on!
Simplates' friendly interface makes it easy to find exactly the plate or information you are looking for quickly, print it out, and have it ready for your virtual flight. Yes, SimPlates are meant to be printed, not viewed on screen (though it is theoretically possible to view them on-screen as well, as they come as PDF files, you will in practice find it easier to do as real pilots do and print them out to reference while you are simming)
The aera 500 GPS from Garmin features a crisp 4.3-inch QVGA wide-format touchscreen and pre-loaded graphical mapping, this versatile, feature-rich unit comes ready for takeoff, right out of the box.
In aviation mode, the aera 500’s detailed chart-style shaded mapping and extensive terrain and aviation databases help you visualize your flight path in relation to nearby navaids, terrain, SUAs, obstructions, and so on. Plus, the addition of private airports and heliports to the database affords even more navigation and emergency “nearest” options. A database-driven terrain advisory feature offers TAWS-like color coding and pop-up alerts when possible obstructions or ground proximity conflicts loom ahead. And with terrain/obstacle data shown at standard 30 arc-second resolution, you’ll enjoy a surprising level of detail on the display. The unit’s graphical Terrain page offers both overhead and vertical profile views of the topography you’re flying over. What’s more, there’s an IFR map mode that lets you display and navigate on high or low enroute airways. You can also pull up MEAs (Minimum Enroute Altitudes) and distances between intersections by touching the airway on the map. As in all the aera models, GPS updating is provided at a super-fast 5 Hz rate
Built to Fly. Born to Run
Once your aircraft returns to terra firma, the fun of aera navigation continues with full automotive GPS capability and preloaded City Navigator® NT street mapping. Operating much like Garmin’s popular nüvi® line of touchscreen auto navigators, your aera 500 offers voice-guided turn-by-turn directions with text-to-speech audio technology that calls out streets by name. In addition, there’s built-in Bluetooth® support for wireless hands-free calling with your compatible mobile phone. And the aera’s built-in “points of interest” database offers helpful guidance to millions of motels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and other local attractions. To further speed your transition from aircraft to automotive mode, a unique ”smart mount” for the aera offers instant clip-and-go car navigation.
