While retaining basic features of its popular predecessor the IC-R5, the IC-R6 contains many improvements including 100 channel per second scanning speed, 1300 memory channels, 15 hours of continuous receive capability, optional drop-in charger stand and voice control squelch. All these new features combined with a high degree of usability means that the IC-R6 will be equally at home with any casual listener of broadcast stations or the serious scanning enthusiast seeking a pocket sized quality receiver.
0.100-1309.995MHz* wideband receiver
With a wide frequency range of 0.100-1309.995MHz in AM, FM, and WFM modes Amateur stations, AM, FM, short wave broadcasts, TV audio* and a variety of utility communications can be listened to.
* Depending on version. Analogue TV audio only. Cannot decode digital TV audio.
100 channels per second high speed scan
The IC-R6 has a 100 channels per second high speed scan capability in VFO mode, useful when searching over 1300MHz of spectrum!

15 hours* of continuous receive capability
The IC-R6 has an efficient low current consumption design for long operation. With the supplied rechargeable Ni-MH cells, the IC-R6 provides up to 15 hours of continuous receive*.
* 50mW output with external speaker (8Ù).
1300 memory channels, 22 memory banks with a 6-character comment
The 1300 memory channels, 50 band scan edges and 200 auto memory write channels provide more than enough capacity to locate and store interesting signals. The regular 1300 channels can be divided into 22 memory banks (Max. 100 channels per bank) for flexible grouping. Each regular channel, scan edge and memory bank can be assigned a 6-character name.
150mW loud audio
The IC-R6 uses a BTL (bridge-tied load) amplifier that doubles the audio output. The 36mm large speaker delivers 150mW* of loud audio for noisy environments.
* Using internal speaker.
Optional BC-194 drop-in charger stand
The optional BC-194 charger stand charges the Ni-MH rechargeable cells eliminating the need to connect and disconnect an AC adapter to the DC power jack of the receiver.
VSC (Voice squelch control)
The VSC (Voice squelch control) opens the squelch only when a modulated signal is detected and ignores unmodulated, beat noise signals.
RETAINED FEATURES FROM IC-R5
External DC power jack
The IC-R6 has an external DC power jack for operation with the AC adapter, BC-07 or optional cigarette lighter cable, CP-18A/E. The standard Ni-MH batteries can be charged simultaneously during operation, making this a useful function while using the IC-R6 in your vehicle or at home.
Compact, drip-resistant construction
Designed for ease of use, the IC-R6 is ultra compact measuring only 58(W)x 86(H)x 29.8(D)mm and weighing just 200g* enabling it to fit neatly in the palm of your hand. Built in a drip resistant case, the radio is protected from harsh weather and damp conditions.
Built-in ferrite rod antenna for AM
A built-in ferrite rod antenna improves reception for AM broadcast stations without the need of a whip antenna.
CTCSS and DTCS tone squelch
CTCSS and DTCS tones provide quiet stand-by while waiting for a matched tone signal. This is convenient for monitoring a specified repeater or station etc. Tone scan detects a tone frequency used in a channel. The pocket beep function alerts you with a beep sound when a matched tone signal is received.
PC programming capability
Memory contents such as frequencies, channel name, category, group name, set mode items, etc, can be programmed easily with the optional cloning software CS-R6
Check out the radio chatter overhead with an easy-to-use scanner when you select the Maycom AR-108 Airband Receiver. Measuring 2.25" x 3.25" (5.7 x 8.3 cm) with a 3" (8cm) antenna, the AR-108 is pocket-sized for use at Airshows or on the go, while the squelch feature cuts out static for hours of enjoyable use.
Since it only receives and doesn't transmit, it's not designed for use as a backup radio in the cockpit, but it does borrow high-end features from aviation-grade transceivers costing a lot more.
Program in your local aviation frequencies or scan frequencies from 108.000 MHz to 136.975 MHz in 25 KHz or 1 MHz steps. Program in up to 99 memory channels for fast scanning at the touch of a button. Monitor two channels at once with Dual Channel Watch.

This radio is deigned to receive all AM airband VHF transmissions within
range. While normal scanners frequently miss signals when scanning, the
Black-Box misses nothing. So, even if you have no idea of your local air
traffic's frequencies, the Black Box will bring them in, loud and clear. Great
for air shows or when travelling around. The Black-Box instantly receives any
transmitted airband signal; it can even manage several at a time! No tuning is
necessary. The supplied earpiece acts as an antenna, and a switchable built-in
speaker is also featured. Background noise is kept under control by the
inclusion of a squelch control. And while other airband radios cannot be used
inside an aircraft cabin, this model has no internal oscillators that can
radiate, so it can be classified in the same category as an MP3 player. You can
now hear flight deck communications from the cabin. The Black-Box combines
excellent sensitivity with great versatility. To reduce interference from
strong local signals, a carefully designed multi-stage filter is included. So
check out the Black-Box today and hear what you have been missing!
The wait has been worth it, the 9th Edition of the UK Scanning Directory is now available. It is packed full of VHF/UHF frequencies from 26MHz to 2.6GHz and has been completely updated. Old frequencies have been deleted and thousands of new verified ones added. This is the definitive frequency guide used by radio enthusiasts and frequency collectors but also by industry, military, the police and various other government departments. The Aviation bands section covers both Military and Civilian Aviation and a separate section lists every airport and military airfield in alphabetiical order.

The Uniden Bearcat UBC3500XLT is Uniden's most advanced scanner. Like the popular 72XLT and 92XLT scanners it includes Unidens Close Call RF capture technology. This feature, which is exclusive to Uniden, locks on to nearby radio transmissions, even if you haven't programmed anything into your scanner. This is particularly useful at events such as airshows and race meets.
The 3500XLT covers virtually every frequency from 25MHz to 1.3GHz excluding UHF TV band, giving you a wide range of listening options.
The Uniden UBC3500XLT has 2500 dynamically allocated channels, and has ten search bands for precise searches of wanted frequencies. It has a scan speed of 100 steps per second. The main features of the UBC3500XLT are mentioned below.
This handheld scanner with full frequency display offers 100 programmable memory channels - 7 bands. Offering the new Ground Breaking Technology Close Call RF Capture Technology this scanner automatically Listens for any nearby or close tansmissions and once they occur the scanner immediately tunes in to this frequency which is ideal for use at events or locations when the transmission is unknown.
Frequency ranges received are 25-88, 108-174 and 400-512 MHz. Chain searching allows seven different personal search bands and the ability to search up to all five chain locations at once. Priority scanning allows a designated priority channel to be monitored every two seconds.
The UBC72XLT also has Pre-Programmed service search which automatically detects Police, Railroad, Air, Marine, UHF CB and AM CB
The Uniden UBC92XLT is another of Uniden's stylish new models. It has a frequency coverage of: 25-54, 108-174, 406-512 and 806-956 Mhz. This includes the most interesting 'action' bands, allowing you to tune into public services, amateur radio etc. Like the 72XLT the UBC92XLT has 2 service banks (aircraft and FM CB), which makes it easier to identify specific types of calls.
